Tennessee E. coli
CARGILL LAWSUIT AND TENNESSEE E. COLI: Lawyer Fred Pritzker is representing victims of E. coli outbreaks linked to ground beef. He is also representing the families of people who died from E. coli-related hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).
Three children in Tennessee have been sickened by Cargill hamburger patties sold at Sam's Club. The strain of E. coli O157:H7 involved in these Tennessee E. coli O157:H7 cases matches the E. coli O157:H7 that has sickened people in Minnesota, North Carolina and Wisconsin. All of the sickened people in those states also had eaten Cargill hamburgers sold at Sam's Club before becoming ill. In addition to this epidemiological evidence, the E. coli involved in each case has the same DNA fingerprint. This evidence would be used to support a Sam's Club/ Cargill lawsuit.
In response to this E. coli outbreak, Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation recalled approximately 845,000 pounds of frozen hamburger patties. The frozen ground beef patties were produced on various dates from Aug. 9 through Aug. 17, 2007, and were distributed to retail establishments, restaurants and institutions nationwide.
Each label on the recalled Cargill hamburgers bears the establishment number "Est. 924A" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled Cargill hamburgers should not be eaten.
We would also like to alert consumers to an unrelated recall of frozen hamburgers sold at Sam's Club. The J & B Meats Corporation Inc. has recalled approximately 173,554 pounds of frozen ground beef products, also due to possible contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
