Kroger Recall: Ground Beef Sold at Kroger, Smith's Food and Drug Stores, Fry's Stores and Food 4 Less
On June 30, 2009, Kroger recalled select store-brand and store-packaged ground beef with sell-by dates from April 27 to June 1, 2009 because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Read about a Kroger lawsuit.
This recall is connected to a JBS Swift recall of beef that has been associated with at least 23 cases of E. coli O157:H7 infection. Read more about the JBS Swift Outbreak of E. coli.
This recall involves Kroger ground beef sold in the following stores:
- Kroger stores in the following areas: Greater Cincinnati, including Dayton, Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana, Greater Memphis, Tenn., Arkansas, Mississippi, Indiana (except SW IN, Evansville), Illinois, and Eastern Missouri;
- Smith’s Food and Drug Stores (located in Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming);
- Fry’s Stores (located in Arizona); and
- Food 4 Less stores in Illinois and Indiana.
