Food Poisoning- $6,425,000 settlement for victims of a foodborne illness outbreak apportioned as follows: $3,500,000 to the couple that suffered the death of unborn twins; $2,700,000 to the family of the wrongful death victim; and $225,000 to a woman who elected to have an abortion. It is believed that the two larger settlements are the highest recoveries ever obtained for victims of this particular foodborne illness.
  2. Motorcycle Crash- $6,000,000 on behalf of a 26 year-old female passenger whose right leg was traumatically amputated when the motorcycle on which she was a passenger was struck by a drunk driver.
  3. Product Liability- $3,750,000 on behalf of a 39 year-old man whose left leg was amputated below the knee following injuries sustained in a recreational vehicle crash caused by a defective control mechanism.
  4. Car Accident - $3,500,000 on behalf of a child who suffered significant brain damage in a multi-vehicle crash. The vehicle in which she was a passenger lost control after attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle. Her vehicle then crossed the median and collided with two other vehicles.
  5. Fire and Explosion- $2,950,000 on behalf of two children following an apartment fire in which their mother and brother were killed. The surviving girl suffered brain damage from smoke inhalation and the surviving boy suffered minor injuries from which he fully recovered.
  6. Truck Accident - $2,850,000 on behalf of the family of a man who was killed when his vehicle was struck by debris from a truck. The man was survived by his wife, two minor children and two adult children from a previous marriage.
  7. Truck Accident Wrongful Death- $2,000,000 on behalf of the heirs of a 37 year-old male who was killed when his delivery truck was struck from the rear at high speed by a garbage truck.
  8. Truck-Pedestrian Crash- $1,700,000 on behalf of a 42 year-old man who was run over by s semi-tractor as the man stood beside the road while assisting another motorist who crashed in an earlier accident. The victim sustained a number of fractures and internal injuries from which he never fully recovered.
  9. Foodborne Illness- $1,700,000 on behalf of a 57 year-old man who developed Listeriosis after eating adulterated cold cuts. This led to meningitis which caused neurological damage including memory and gait problems.
  10. Medical Product Liability- $1,652,000 on behalf of senior citizens who were implanted with defective orthopedic appliances.
  11. Truck-Pedestrian Crash- $1,536,921 on behalf of a 36 year-old man whose wheel chair was struck by a garbage truck as the man tried to cross a busy road. He used a motorized chair due to pre-existing rheumatoid arthritis. The crash resulted in a hip fracture that required surgery and caused the man to lose additional function.
  12. Traumatic Brain Injury-( Farm-Implement/Automobile Crash) - $1,225,666 on behalf of a 50 year-old female who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury when the vehicle she was operating was struck by a farm sprayer that failed to stop at a rural intersection.
  13. Foodborne Illness- $1,200,000 on behalf of a 51 year-old woman who developed an E. coli infection as a result of eating adulterated hamburger. The resulting abdominal damage required extensive surgery and caused partial loss of bowel function.
  14. Traumatic Brain Injury- $1,100,000 on behalf of a 26 year-old male whose motorcycle was struck by a left turning automobile operated by a 16 year-old driver.
  15. Pharmacy Malpractice - $1,050,000 on behalf of a woman in her late 70's who died as a result of an overdose of pain medication caused by a pharmacy compounding error. The ingested drug was 8-10 times stronger than prescribed.
