Welcome to Pritzker | Ruohonen
Cerebral Anoxia
Cerebral anoxia is a condition where there is an absence of oxygen to the brain. With oxygen deprivation, the cells of the brain die within several minutes. Cerebral anoxia can be caused by a number of events, including the following:
- near-drowning
- accident where there is significant blood loss
- smoke inhalation during a fire
- carbon-monoxide poisoning
- oxygen deprivation during birth (may cause cerebral palsy)
- anesthetic accident before or after surgery
Cerebral anoxia may result in severe brain damage or death. Recovery depends on how long the brain has been deprived of oxygen and how much brain damage has occurred. Even if there is “recovery,” there may be permanent psychological and neurological damage.
Pritzker | Ruohonen, a premier personal injury law firm, has had extensive experience with brain injury lawsuits. In one case, a young girl had survived a fire, but smoke inhalation had caused cerebral anoxia and permanent, severe brain damage. The firm obtained a multi-million-dollar settlement. Brain Injuries and Motor Vehicle Accidents
One of the major causes of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is motor vehicle accidents. Even a "minor" accident may result in brain injuries. We guide our clients through the process of determining the extent of the brain injuries, and we work to obtain just compensation for those injuries and the related pain and suffering.
Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries Related to Electrical Accidents
Another major cause of brain injuries is electrical accidents. Brain injuries from electrical accidents can occur as a direct result of an electric shock, from a fall after an electric shock, or from cerebral anoxia due to related respiratory problems.
